We have two pathways depending on the service you are seeking.
Option 1: Homebuyer Education & Counseling
For those only interested in homebuyer education and counseling, we ask that you provide us with at least 3 weeks’ notice before your closing date so that we have time to work on your file. For more information on these services, please review our Homebuyer Education & Counseling flyer.
Option 2: Down Payment & Closing Cost Assistance (DPA)
During normal operations, we provide Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance funds for the following jurisdictions: St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Florissant, Jefferson County, St. Charles County, and O’Fallon. Homebuyer education and counseling are included in this process.
Currently, we are only accepting St. Louis City DPA clients who are under contract to purchase a home on a case-by-case basis. All closings must be at least 45 days out so we have enough time to facilitate the DPA program. This timeline may change depending on our capacity at the time of the request.
For those closing outside of St. Louis City, we recommend reaching out to Better Family Life (314-367-3440) or Beyond Housing (314-533-0600). These agencies have funds in St. Louis County, Florissant, Jefferson County, St. Charles County, and O’Fallon.
To learn more about our process with DPA clients, please watch our introductory video. You can also view the presentation slides as a PDF.
For a one-page summary of the main requirements, please review our DPA Info Chart or our DPA Overview flyer.
Down payment assistance in the City of St. Louis is totally or partially funded through the Community Development Administration (CDA) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
